Southwark Dynamos Score with Southside Print!

Southside Print sponsors Southwark Dynamos Football Club

A new football club, the Southwark Dynamos, recently reached out to Southside Print for a possible sponsorship deal. We were more than happy to help and are now proud to announce that Southside Print is the club’s official sponsor for the next two football seasons. Our contribution will help the new club with expenses for training equipment and football kit and our logo will feature on both home and away kits.

A notice on the club’s website made the announcement:

We are delighted to welcome Southside Print as our Official club sponsor for 2018/ 2019 Football season. Thank you believing in our vision from everyone at the club.

Caroline Nicholson, the Club Secretary of Southwark Dynamos Football Club, also said:

Everyone at Southwark Dynamos Football Club is extremely delighted and welcomes Southside Print as our Official Sponsor.

Southside Print’s Rob Phillips confirmed:

We are delighted to take up the opportunity to become your title sponsor …. it’s great to be involved”.

An early rough of how the new football kit may lookThe Southwark Dynamos

Southwark Dynamos is an exciting new football club based in Rotherhithe, Southwark, and has the London FA as their governing body. Currently, the club is preparing for the new football season in the South East London & Kent League. As the club says on its website, their aim is ‘to develop and train talented young footballers for tomorrow‘. They help young people take their skills to the next level, preparing them for top-level competitions which will see them playing in front of football professionals. Possible opportunities arising from that include scholarships and even semi-professional or professional football contracts.

The club is family run within the Southwark community and encourages young people – both male and female – to develop their football skills as well as to simply enjoy the sport. Training sessions help to build on skills, strength, agility and stamina as well as facilitating the fabulous opportunities mentioned above. Programs are also run with local schools and youth clubs and include summer football camps.

Staff are fully trained and vetted, with all the requisite safeguarding policies in place at the club. Indeed, all training certification is approved by the FA and other local football associations affiliated with the club.

The Southwark Dynamos train just two-and-a-half miles away from Southside Print at Bacons College Sports Ground in Timber Pond Road, London SE16 6AT (nearest railway station: Rotherhithe). Pre-training and development currently takes place every Saturday between 12 noon and 2pm and the next session is on Saturday 9 June at time of writing.

If you are under sixteen and an avid football player, the club is currently looking for additional players to strengthen its U16s squad ahead of the 2018/2019 football season. So, do get in touch with them if this if of interest. You can call them on 07760 955 978, email them or simply go to one of their Saturday training sessions. More details are available at www.southwarkdynamosfc.co.uk.

Brochure Printing in London Bridge, SE1

Printed brochures

Full colour brochures printed for Munro & ForsterBrochures are a priceless marketing tool for just about any business or organisation. Akin to a mini shop window or store front they will work hard to silently market your product or service to your target market, especially if written, designed and printed well. That’s helped still further if they also include professionally generated photographs or illustrations to showcase your products or services in the best possible light. With a well executed brochure, all your key sales and marketing information will be available anywhere, all distilled down in a handy, portable format. Unlike a physical store, they can be perused at your prospect’s leisure, whether mailed in the post, distributed from dispensers, left at coffee tables and receptions or handed out face-to-face.

Brochure Formats

Typical brochure formats include:
  • Saddle-stitched printed brochures for Gembuildstandard ‘saddle-stitched’ brochures;
  • wiro-bound brochures;
  • perfect bound brochures;
  • hybrid brochures e.g. that may have extra fold-out sections;
  • brochures that double up as folders, for example with pockets for inserts at the front or back.

Shapes & Sizes

Perfect bound 'Power to Change' brochuresMost brochures are based upon the ‘A’ sized paper sizes, for example A4, A5 and A6 etc. Such sizes can be presented in portrait or landscape mode, although portrait format tends to be most common as it’s more cost-effective to produce due to the way it uses standard stock sizes (less waste).

Aside from the standard ‘A’ sizes, there are also a few other brochure shapes that are quite effective, including:

  • Square brochures (typical sizes include 210mm square and 148.5mm square) — these have a certain charm about them;
  • 6-page format (like a wide gate fold);
  • Wiro bound, full colour brochures 'Power to Change'‘DL’ sized mini brochures (most often portrait in format, being H210mm x W99mm, which is easily accomplished simply by folding an A4 sheet into three).

Each of these sizes and formats will give your brochure a different feel which will, in turn, affect that all important first impression — important because your brand, product and service are all at stake. If your brochure looks poorly conceived and underwhelming, that is inevitably how your product, brand or service will also be perceived, so it’s important to take everything into consideration and to get it right. Printed Stationery for ‘Alive and Kicking’ Charity

Printed letterheads and business cards for Alive and Kicking

One of the most interesting customers that we’ve printed for in recent times is Alive and Kicking, who have an office here in London. The registered charity helps to improve lives in Kenya, Zambia and Ghana on the African continent and we’ll explain the innovative yet amazingly effective way they achieve that below.

Printed Letterheads & Business Cards

First, though, a quick note about what we print for them. In their case, it’s very straight forward. We currently print just their letterheads and business cards, which just goes to prove that Southside Print customers don’t have to print much with us in order to be featured in our bi-monthly blog. The letterheads are printed on 100gsm white paper and the business cards are printed double-sided on 340gsm white card, for a few different personnel. The charity supplied its own artwork in this case.

Now, though, we’ll go back to the charity itself and highlight the amazing work it does.

Alive and Kicking

With its headquarters in London, Alive and Kicking is an award-winning African ‘social enterprise’ which creates ethical employment for adults at the same time as improving the quality of life and health of disadvantaged youths. The registered charity uses business practices and the African continent’s passion for football to boost local economies, provide children with the right equipment to play and uses sport as a tool to help combat the spread of deadly diseases including HIV and malaria.

Making a footballSince it was established in 2004, Alive and Kicking has produced over 750,000 footballs, 20% of which were donated to good causes. Alive and Kicking employees individually screen print the footballs by hand and this allows them to be used for promotional purposes by businesses, to be personalised for individuals or printed with messages of any kind for a myriad of other purposes. Every football is hand-stitched using leather which, being locally sourced, helps to support the local communities. This material also means that the footballs are tough, durable and repairable. The organisation is the only formal manufacturer of sports balls on the African continent.

The Alive and Kicking programme has 3 main objectives: Read more

Printing for The Riverside Bookshop, Tooley Street, London SE1

Printing for the Riverside Bookshop, London SE1

Southside Print is very happy to count The Riverside Bookshop amongst its many loyal customers. For some time we have been printing their Little Red Card. It’s a small but effective piece of marketing and measures just 110mm x 85mm, so is about twice the size of a standard business card. To keep costs low for the client, we ‘gang up’ several copies, printing them together before trimming them down to their final size. We use SRA2 card (240gsm ‘Papago’ stock) during the early production stages. This card is just one small printing example amongst an amazing variety of items that we print for customers throughout the London Bridge/SE1 region and beyond.

The Little Red Card

The Little Red Card, printed by Southside Print, London Bridge, SE1The Little Red Card, as it’s officially known, is exactly that; a little red card. What is does for customers, though, is quite special as it saves them money at the bookshop. For every £10 a customer spends in store, they get an ink stamp inside the card. Once they have six stamps, they can present their card with their next purchase and it allows them to get £5 off their bill. So it’s simple, but ingenious! Ingenious not only for customers, of course; after all, it keeps customers coming back to the shop so could, alternatively, have been called a loyalty card. But we too prefer Little Red Card — it sounds so much more friendly, just like the staff in fact!

The Riverside Bookshop

The Riverside Bookshop, Tooley Street, London SE1The Riverside Bookshop is based in Tooley Street, London SE1 and has been selling books there for over 25 years. Along with literally thousands of books, they also sell National Book Tokens, greetings cards, gift wrap, notebooks and very occasionally a few toys. As well as stocking around 10,000 book titles in store, they can order in anything from a list of several hundred thousand additional books. Such special orders usually take just a couple of days to arrive and cost no extra. The bookshop also regularly stocks signed copies of books including many by major authors and household names — these would make very special gifts. Their website is well worth a look and is jam-packed full of fascinating information, reviews, book news and even has sections on Read more

Digital & Litho Printing for London Heating & Plumbing Company

Printing & artwork for The Little Red Heating Company, London

We believe this is the first time we’ve featured a heating and plumbing company on the blog, so welcome to our post all about The Little Red Heating Company. Here we’ll tell you all about them, but first we’ll discuss a few of the design, artwork and printing jobs that we’ve been doing for them in recent times. If you have any similar needs, do get in touch.

Printed NCR pads, labels, postcards & business cards

All design, layout and artwork is supplied by Southside Print London Bridge for this particular client. We supply simple, straight forward ‘business’ type printing for them including:

  • A4 invoice pads, which are printed on NCR (No Carbon Required) stock with white, pink and blue copies automatically being produced when the client writes on the top sheet. They are litho printed in 3 spot colours as well as being sequentially crash numbered then typically made into 4 pads of 50 invoice sets. NCR sets are a very convenient way of generating multi-copy invoices or orders the ‘traditional’ way (with a pen), particularly while out and about visiting customers;
  • business cards which have, until recently, been litho printed onto 400gsm “Extra White” uncoated stock using 3 spot colours. However, our digital printing machines are now so advanced that we may well swap over to digital printing for the business cards for future print runs, without any loss of quality;
  • postcards, which are litho printed litho onto 250gsm Silk card, in the same 3 spot colours. As with the business cards above, we will probably also swap to digitally printing these in future, for the same reason;
  • boiler labels, which represent a convenient reminder to home owners as well as being a great marketing tool for the company concerned. These are digitally printed on “Crack Back” label stock. As the name suggests, this type of label stock has linear cracks in the peel-off backing. These are present too allow the labels to simply be bent a little to expand the crack, thereby making removal of the backing sheet quick and easy.

About The Little Red Heating Company

The Little Red Heating Company, LondonThe Little Red Heating Company is London based and specialises in central heating and hot water system installation, maintenance and repair. Boiler repair or replacement, bathroom design/installation and general plumbing are all part of the service along with upgrades and replacements for pumps, thermostats, timers and valves. The company also supplies landlord certification and, of course, heating engineers are all Corgi registered.

The Little Red Heating Company also offers under floor heating, which is quick and inexpensive to install and provides both a fast method of heating rooms and a real feeling of luxury underfoot. That’s not the only benefit though; those with under floor heating will also experience a significant reduction in dust mites, so this particular heating method is also excellent for asthma sufferers.

Another great service from the company is the supply and installation of solar heating, through the use of solar panels, for the provision of domestic hot water. With temperatures in the UK gradually rising as they are, solar energy is now an extremely viable way to generate a cheap, sustainable energy source for homes. So, long-term savings can be made as well as helping the environment — a true win-win!
