Catalogues & Flyers for Artist Lorraine Fossi

Lorraine Fossi, an artist who lives and works in South London, recently commissioned Southside Print London Bridge to print a 52-page catalogue of her 2015/16 work. This was digitally printed and is A5 landscape in size, being full colour and produced using Southside Print‘s digital printing presses. The catalogue uses 250gsm silk coated stock for the covers and 170gsm paper weight for internal pages. It was designed by Deborah Puiggali and Southside Print‘s Matt Potter helped to edit a few photos, check the consistency of the fonts and set up the final print-ready file before the catalogue was sent to print. Southside Print also printed a full colour Private View flyer, also on silk coated stock, to publicise Lorraine’s ‘Art Salon’ events (more about those below).

About Lorraine Fossi

Lorraine was originally an architect, having been born into a family of artists and architects in Paris. After studying architecture at The Beaux-Arts she went on to graduate with an MA (with distinction) in Fine Arts, in September 2015, from the City & Guilds of London Art School. There, she also won the City & Guilds School Art Prize.

«You can’t make either life or art: you have to work in the hole in between, which is undefined. That’s what makes the adventure of painting.»  Robert Rauschenberg

As the quotation above hints, Lorraine’s work likes to mix imagination and abstraction with reality, art with life. Each links to, and substantially enhances, the other.

Since graduating, Lorraine’s work has been featured by Turps Gallery and in the 2016 edition of Young Gods, an exhibition which showcased work at both the Griffin Gallery and at Charlie Smith London.

Lorraine was also recently interviewed, in depth, by Floorr Magazine — take a look here.

Future projects include a regular Art Salon, which will be held at ‘Fossi Tower’ (Lorraine’s 5-storey family home in Kennington), a solo exhibition with Pipeline Space (Autumn 2016), a group show at ARTHOUSE1 in Bermondsey (probably Spring 2017) and a project that involves a visit to a small island in Sardinia!

Currently, Lorraine is working from Elephant & Castle in her ASC Studio at Studio 43, The Chaplin Centre, Thurlow Street, London SE17 2UL. She’s also planning a new A4 artist book to showcase what she calls her ‘collateral drawings’.

Printing Services for Artists, London SE1

Southside Print London Bridge is keen to help artists, including those studying for foundation degrees, BA’s and MA’s, to represent themselves as well as possible in print. Catalogue printing is just one of many types of printing that Southside Print London Bridge produces for artists. Students often benefit from supplying business cards and post cards at their degree shows and obviously flyers, leaflets, brochures and booklets will really help artists to creatively market themselves and showcase their work. Southside Print‘s digital printing facilities will be perfect for small and medium quantities of those types of print, while their large format printing facilities may be useful to students who need to replicate works as posters, banners, backdrops or simply as large-scale output for digital works. So, with that in mind, artists are invited to look out for forthcoming Autumn special offers which we’ll publicise here on the blog and in our social media later in the year.
